Despite the fact, the Oregon Ducks come into this game with a number beside their name, they will face no easy task against the Oregon State Beavers this Saturday, as they look to pull off the mild upset at Autzen Stadium as 7 point underdogs. The Beavers will carry some momentum from their recent performances into this game, riding a two-game winning streak with two rather straightforward wins.
On the other hand, the Ducks are looking for a big bounce-back performance after getting outclassed by the Utah Utes last week. Neither of these teams have an amazing defense, and both are rather capable on offense, so it is no surprise the bookies expect an exciting affair this Saturday with this total currently listed at over 60.
Oregon State Beavers Betting Preview:
Although the Beavers were 3 point underdogs in their last game against Arizona State, they managed to make things look rather simple, leading for most of that game without too much worry of the Sun Devils battling back. The Beavers had more first downs in that game, more yards, and led in terms of the time of possession. The running game was key in that victory like it has been multiple times for Oregon State this year, with B.J. Taylor being the alpha in the backfield.
Taylor rushed for 150 yards in that game against the Sun Devils, which brought his season totals to 1200 yards rushing and 12 TD’s, so it would not be surprising to see him be the focal point of this offense once again come Saturday. The only issue I have with predicting a big game out of Taylor here, is that he does not get much work in the receiving game, so if the Beavers fall behind early here, it might turn out that he is game scripted out of the offense a bit as the Beavers try to throw the ball to catch up.
It has not always been pretty at the QB position for the Beavers in 2021, but sophomore passer Chance Nolan has had a decent year as the starter. He now has 2106 passing yards and 17 touchdowns, with the main knock on him being the 8 interceptions he has thrown so far. He has a nice matchup against the Ducks offense, so if this running game gets going, he is more than capable of picking the ducks apart as they try to crowd the box.
Oregon Ducks Betting Preview:
There was all kind of buzz about this Oregon Ducks team early in the season, and with good reason, as they were a 4-0 football team with a win over Ohio State on their record. Then a fateful trip to Stanford and a 31-24 loss against the Cardinal took the wind and the attention away from this team, as that solitary loss seemingly eliminated the Ducks from playoff contention. After that loss, the Ducks stuck to their business and went on another 5 game winning streak, and just when that buzz and hype started surrounding this team, they again fell apart, which is exactly what happened in their last game against Utah. That 38-7 loss to the Utes was the final nail in the coffin, as they fell from number 3 all the way to 11 after having their offense shutdown.
The QB play in Oregon has been competent, but not incredible as senior signal-caller Anthony Brown enters the game with 2261 passing yards and a pretty average 13-4 TD to pick ratio. The nice thing Brown has going for him is his rushing ability which he has shown plenty this year, and having that weapon in your back pocket will come in handy against this Beavers team.
The Ducks also have a quality running back on their side of the ball as well with Travis Dye, who has 937 rushing yards and 12 TD’s, and he likely has success once again against the Beavers front 7.
Oregon State Beavers vs. Oregon Ducks Betting Lines & Odds
This game has points written all over it, and even though both of these offenses primarily go through the running backs, I can see that setting up plenty of big plays downfield on both sides. Look for this one to be an absolute barn burner with little to no defense this Saturday, as this total flies over the 60.5.
