NFL Betting Preview Steelers vs. Vikings

The Minnesota Vikings (5-7) will host the Pittsburgh Steelers (6-5-1) at U.S. Bank Stadium for a Week 14 matchup on Thursday Night football. Last week, the Steelers won over the Ravens 20-19, while the Vikings fell to the winless Lions 29-27. Let’s check out how these two teams match up against each other.

Pittsburgh Steelers Betting Preview: Steelers Right in the Thick of AFC North Title

Pittsburgh has had a rough go of it lately, getting humiliated after allowing 41 points in back-to-back games while dealing with Ben Roethlisberger’s retiring rumors. Be that as it may, the Steelers responded in a big way holding Baltimore’s offense to 19 points and picking up an interception.

The offense has been pretty bad as of late, collecting a measly 15 points per game over their last two contests. Although that’s true, the Steelers were able to pick up a nice come from behind victory, scoring 17 points in the fourth quarter, including two Big Ben passing touchdowns.

The Steelers are in a good position to continue their success facing a Minnesota defense that injuries have ravished. The Steelers have managed just 20.1 points per game from an offensive standpoint, while barely hanging on in the playoff hunt. They’ll try and use their momentum to climb their way back to the top of the AFC North.

Minnesota Vikings Betting Preview: Vikings Fall to Winless Lions

The Minnesota Vikings fell victim to the Lions, handing them their first win. The offense could not get anything going in the first half, putting together just six points against one of the worst teams in the league. Minnesota has been involved in drama all season, playing 11 of their 12 games within one score.

Kirk Cousins has really turned in on as of late, throwing 15 touchdowns to just one interception over his last seven games. He was able to click with Justin Jefferson in the second half linking up 11 times for 182 yards and a score. Alexander Mattison has filled in nicely for Dalvin Cook, collecting 124 total yards and a rushing touchdown.

On the other hand, the defense has been atrocious as of late. Although they are playing without their starting linebackers, the Lions were able to move the ball through the air with ease against Minnesota. They allowed Jared Goff to have his best game, throwing three touchdowns, while conceding 29 points. Overall, the defensive unit is giving up a whopping 382.9 yards per game, including a staggering 134.4 on the ground.

With all things considered, I still like the Vikings in this matchup. I don’t think the Steelers have it figured out on the offensive end, Najee Harris seems to be hitting the rookie wall, and the offensive line isn’t doing their best to protect Big Ben.

The Vikings, on the other hand, have played phenomenal football at home. Minnesota is allowing only 19.8 games on their home turf, and Kirk Cousins has been feasting as of late on opposing defenses. I think the Vikings will run all over the Steelers and control the clock in this one. Take the Vikings.
