NFL Betting Preview Saints vs. Seahawks

The New Orleans Saints head to Seattle to take on the Seahawks for Monday Night Football at Luman Field. The New Orleans Saints are coming off a bye week after crushing the Washington Football team on the road in week five, 33-22. Meanwhile, the Seahawks dropped their second straight game last week when they lost to the Steelers in overtime 23-20.

This is a crucial NFC matchup for both teams as they are trying to keep pace in their respective divisions. Let’s dive into this matchup and analyze each team to help you make the best bets for Monday night.

New Orleans Saints Betting Preview: Saints Prepare for Third Win on the Road

The New Orleans Saints come into this matchup well-rested, coming off a week six bye. Before that, the Saints snagged a solid win over the Washington Football team 33-22, where the team produced 377 yards of total offense and their most points since week one against the Packers.

Jameis Winston and the Saints offense have been inconsistent so far in 2021, looking to produce back-to-back wins for the first time this season. Jameis Winston has started to put things together on the offensive side, throwing seven touchdowns to just one interception in his last three games, including four in his previous game against Washington.

The offense is ranked 28th in the league and produces just 295.2 yards per game, not to mention averaging an unappealing 169.4 yards in the air. Be that as it may, keep an eye on Alvin Kamara as the running back has recorded 120+ yards in his last two games, along with two touchdowns. The Saints should utilize the ground game to set up the pass against the league’s fifth-worst unit against the pass.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Saints are 15th in the league in total defense, but are outstanding against the run, ranking second with 79 yards allowed per game. The Saints have also been impressive against the pass, in particular at causing turnovers. The secondary has produced nine interceptions so far in 2021 and has the fifth most takeaways in the league. The defensive unit is conceding 18.2 points per game and will have a favorable matchup against backup quarterback Geno Smith.

Seattle Seahawks Betting Preview: Seahawks Struggle Without Russell

The Seattle Seahawks have lost four of their last five games and are trending in the wrong direction. Last time out, the Hawks fell to the Steelers in overtime 23-20, with Geno Smith starting his first game in almost four years. The quarterback competed surprisingly well, completing 72% of his passes, firing one touchdown, and finishing with a 99.6 QB rating.

Despite this, Smith fumbled in overtime, sealing a second straight loss for the Seahawks. Filling in for starter Chris Carson, Alex Collins looked impressive, leading a Seahawks rushing attack with 101 yards, the first 100-yard rushing performance for Seattle since 2018. Overall, the offense has averaged 18.5 points per game in their last two contests and will face a challenging Saints defense on Monday Night.

The Seahawks defense has disappointed through the first six weeks of the season, ranking last in total defense. The Seahawks are long removed from their “Legion of Boom” days, conceding 433.2 yards of offense to opponents.

Likewise, the secondary is getting shredded in the air for almost 300 yards a game, and the defensive front isn’t faring much better, allowing 140 yards on the ground. Seattle’s defense will look for some takeaways against a notorious decision-maker in Jameis Winston.

The Seahawks are trending downward after losing their star quarterback and succumbing to four of their last five games. The team is injury-riddled, and the defense cannot stop a cold. Be that as it may, that doesn’t take away this team’s talent and coaching ability.

Pete Carrol is a future hall of fame coach, and the Seahawks have produced over 300+ yards of offense per game over the last two games.

However, the Saints are the team to beat in this matchup sporting better numbers on both sides of the ball. The defense is stiff against the pass, and the offense put up a solid performance on the road their last time out. Additionally, the Saints have played well on the road, winning their last two games away from home. I like the Saints in this one.
