NFL Betting Preview Cowboys vs. Eagles – January 8, 2022

The Dallas Cowboys head to Lincoln Financial Field to take on the Philadelphia Eagles for the regular-season finale in the NFC East. In their last outing, Dallas took a beating at home, falling to the Cardinals 25-22. Meanwhile, the Eagles picked up a victory over the Washington Football team 20-16.

The Cowboys have already clinched the NFC East, and the Eagles locked down a spot in the NFC playoffs, but the teams should be battling it out to try and improve their standings in the playoff picture. That being said, let’s dive into this matchup and see how these two teams match up.

Dallas Cowboys Betting Preview: Dallas Stunned by Cardinals at Home

The Cowboys saw their four-game winning streak come to an end when they fell to the Cardinals last week. The Arizona Cardinal defense stymied Dallas as the offense accumulated only 301 yards while struggling with their own miscues. The offense couldn’t get much going in the first half as they accumulated only seven points and lost a fumble.

Dak Prescott led the offense with three touchdown passes, but the rushing attack was held to just 45 yards on the night. Dak Prescott led the team in rushing and tossed his 32 touchdowns of the year, setting a career-high. Overall, the offense should be just fine as they are averaging over 400 yards a game and almost 30 points.

Defensively, the unit has been on an absolute tear this season, recording a league-leading 23 interceptions and picking off ten balls in their last four games. They finally met their match against Arizona, and the defense didn’t record a takeaway while giving up 399 total yards.

Philadelphia Eagles Betting Preview: Eagles Clinch Playoff Berth in Sciriani’s First Season

The Eagles are flying high as they clinched a postseason berth for the fourth time in the last five seasons and the first time under new head coach Nick Sirianni. It wasn’t pretty, but the Eagles utilized their strong ground attack to wear down the Washington defense and picked up two scores in the win. Philadelphia really stood out on fourth down, where they converted three times to secure the victory. Overall, the offense leads the league in rushing (160.4) and averages 26.1 points per game.

Defensively, the Eagles held Washington to 16 points, 312 yards, and forced one interception, while picking up three sacks in the win. The Eagles have struggled to force turnovers but picked up a huge interception in the end zone that sealed the victory. Ultimately, the unit has been strong, ranking sixth in total defense (319.7), and is conceding just 20.9 points per game.

Both of these teams have high-powered offenses and vicious defenses, and it could be a potential playoff matchup down the road. All eyes will be on the NFC East battle as the game was moved to primetime on Saturday Night.

Mike McCarthy stated that they will play their starters, and I believe he wants to win to ensure he has a shot at getting revenge against the Green Bay Packers if they remain the fourth seed. That being said, Dallas is the best team ATS this year at 12-4 and are 4-0 ATS as an away favorite and 3-1 after a loss. Back the Cowboys here.
