NFL Betting Preview Bills vs. Chiefs January 23, 2022

At Arrowhead Stadium, the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Buffalo Bills in a thrilling divisional round playoff clash. Both teams thrashed their opponents in the first round and will look to do it again come Sunday night. In October, the Bills crushed the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium, and the Chiefs will look to avenge their early-season loss. This should be the game of the week after the Bills almost hung a 50 spot on the Patriots last week, while the Chiefs have one of the best offenses in league with Patrick Mahomes under center.

Buffalo Bills Betting Preview: Josh Allen and Bills Look to Stay Hot against Chiefs

This game is about the Buffalo Bills overcoming the one mountain they’ve been unable to climb as an exciting young team attempting to make the leap to elite status. Josh Allen appears to be the face of the franchise who can lead them there. Sean McDermott and Brian Daboll have done a tremendous job and should have this team ready to play.

When the Bills beat the Patriots in the first round of the 2021 playoffs, they put on an offensive show to remember. Buffalo became the first team in NFL history to go a whole game without kicking, punting, or turning the ball over. Josh Allen was dominant all night, throwing five touchdowns, while the offense had seven drives and scored seven touchdowns on the way to a total of 47 points.

Buffalo’s defense allowed 305 yards but recorded three sacks and two interceptions in the process. Despite not having a single pro bowler on the roster, the Bills led the league in points allowed, pass defense, and third-down defense during the season. They also had 30 takeaways, which placed them third.

Kansas City Chiefs Betting Preview: Chiefs Looking to Avenge Early Loss to Bills

The Kansas City Chiefs are also on a roll, with Patrick Mahomes throwing five touchdowns in a rout of the Pittsburgh Steelers in the first round. The Chiefs’ high-octane attack, which scored 42 points, is led by Mahomes, and they can score at a whim thanks to talents like Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill.

The Chiefs have made remarkable strides defensively, as their defense was the worst in the league in weeks 1-5, yielding 32.6 points per game; but, in weeks 6-18, Kansas City ranks first, conceding an average of 16.8 points per game. They’ll be hoping for similar results against Josh Allen and a red-hot Bills team after holding the Steelers to 21 points and 257 yards.

While the Chiefs have the advantage in experience, the Bills are playing excellent football on all fronts and dominate the Chiefs last time they met. On the other hand, Kansas City has been here before and has the experience to win and get back to the AFC championship.

The Bills as underdogs are tempting after taking down the Patriots in a big way at home, but the Chiefs remain the best team in the AFC. Buffalo has learned a lot since their AFC Championship game defeat to Kansas City last season, but they caught this club at the right time earlier in the season, and beating the same team twice is extremely difficult.

Josh Allen has been just too inconsistent week to week this season for this club to pull together significant wins, even though the Chiefs have been the top team in the NFL for the last two months. The Chiefs’ defense has been the best in the league in the second half in scoring, and they’re playing at home. I think the Chiefs cover in this one.
