NFL Betting Preview Bears vs. Steelers

The Chicago Bears head to Pittsburgh to take on the Steelers for a week nine matchup on Monday Night football. The Chicago Bears (3-5) got an early lead against the 49ers but couldn’t hold on, dropping 33-22, while the Pittsburgh Steelers (4-3) are coming off a big division victory over the Browns 15-10.

The Bears are falling out of contention in the NFC North and need a victory to keep pace with the Packers. The Steelers, on the other hand, are right in the thick of the division and could take over first place with a win. This should be a fun Monday night matchup, so let’s check out how these two teams compare.

Chicago Bears Betting Preview: Fields Runs Wild

The Bears dropped their third straight last week and are looking to get back in the win column when they hit the road. The offense committed five turnovers against the Buccaneers a couple of weeks ago and rebounded nicely with a solid offensive effort against one of the more dominant defenses in the league in the 49ers.

Justin Fields connected for a nice touchdown pass with a throw across his body while also rushing for a career-high 103 yards. The rushing attack has also added a nice change of pace, combining 176 total yards against a fearsome 49er defensive front. Be that as it may, the offense is one of the worst in the league. The Bears rank last in total offense averaging 264 yards per game and last in total passing yards per game with an abysmal 127.4.

On the defensive side of the ball, it’s a totally different story. The defense ranks 14th in total yards allowed, and they are ninth against the pass. Although the team gave up the lead and allowed 20 points in the fourth quarter, the defensive unit has eight takeaways on the year and can make some big-time plays on defense.

Pittsburgh Steelers Betting Preview: Najee Harris Proving He is an Elite Back

The Steelers have impressed the last three games rattling off a three-game winning streak after starting the season 1-3.

Big Ben Roethlisberger and the offense are starting to form identity; in particular, Najee Harris has been the catalyst of the offense. When Harris has the ball, he’s averaging 107.4 yards per game. The offensive line has been a big part of the offense’s success over their winning streak, allowing Najee Harris to find the endzone four times in his last four games. In addition, the extra time in the pocket has benefitted Big Ben as he’s thrown four touchdowns with no turnovers.

Pittsburgh keeps finding ways to win, and a big reason for that is the toughness of the defense. This season, the defensive unit has had a big impact by holding their opponents under 20 points five out of their seven games. The Steelers only have six takeaways on defense but got huge takeaways with the game on the line against Seattle and Cleveland to win them the game.

The Bears’ offense is intriguing; on the one hand, Chicago possesses some potentially big playmakers in Fields, David Montgomery, and Allen Robinson, but on the other hand, statistically, they are the worst offense in the league. Fields added a different dynamic to the offense when he broke off 100+ against the Niners, and that could lead the team to keep the game close.

Be that as it may, the Steelers are the hotter team right now, and they are better coached. Najee Harris has taken the NFL by storm and is proving he can be a complete back. The defense is playing more ferociously, and they will have the noise advantage at home. I think the Steelers overwhelm Justin Fields, while Najee Harris has another huge game.
