NFL Betting Preview: 49ers vs. Bengals

The San Francisco 49ers (6-6) will travel to Paul Brown Stadium to take on the Cincinnati Bengals (7-5) in week 14 of the NFL regular season. Both teams entered this week coming off of disappointing losses, with the 49ers falling to the Seahawks 30-23, while the Bengals dropped a game to the Chargers 41-22.

Although these teams are coming off of losses, they are firmly in the thick of the playoff race in their respective divisions. This game should be an exciting matchup as both teams showcase offense that could explode at any moment. Let’s dive into this matchup and check out how these two teams stack up.

San Francisco 49ers Betting Preview: 49ers Look to Get Back in Win Column against Bengals

The 49ers saw their three-game winning streak come to an end after a second loss to the Seahawks this season. Turnovers killed the 49ers last week, as Jimmy Garropolo tossed two ill-advised interceptions, while Travis Benjamin lost a fumble on a kickoff.

That being said, this 49ers team is still dangerous. San Francisco was able to rattle off three straight victories while posting 30 points each game over that span. Jimmy Garropolo has been solid over his last five games, tossing 9 touchdowns over that span. Overall, the Niners have posted the 12th best offense in the league, while averaging 25.3 points per game.

As impressive as the offense has been lately, the defense has been more consistent this year and is the backbone of this team. The defensive unit is conceding a fourth-best 319.4 yards per game, and 23.2 points per game overall. They did take a step back against Seattle, conceding 30 points, along with over 140 yards on the ground.

Cincinnati BengalsBetting Preview: 12 Total Players on Injury Report For Bengals

Although the Bengals are favored this week, keep an eye on the injury report as the Bengals were ravished with injuries against the Chargers last week. Joe Burrow played through a finger injury, while star running back Joe Mixon exited the game with a neck injury.

The Bengals defense looked atrocious last week as they allowed the Chargers to race out to a 24-0 lead, but to their credit, they never stopped fighting, picking off Justin Herbert twice to give their offense a chance to come back. After giving up an ugly 41 points to the Chargers, the defense is still conceding just 22.3 points per game.

The Cincinnati Bengals are one of the more explosive young offenses in the league, but they have been inconsistent in 2021. With all of the questionable injuries they are facing right now, I can’t see them overcoming a 49ers team that is playing well on both sides of the ball.

The 49ers will be playing their second straight game on the road, but the offense has been really strong as of late, putting together 30+ point performances in three of their last four contests. This game will come down to the defense, and the 49ers’ defensive front is nasty. Joe Burrow was sacked six times last game, and I expect more of the same on Sunday.
