NCAA Football Betting Preview UConn Huskies vs. UCF Knights

It is not the most important matchup in the world, but we may very well have an entertaining affair on our hands as the UConn Huskies travel to Florida to take on the UCF Knights. It has been a miserable season for the Huskies going 1-9 with only one win against Yale, and without going into too much detail, they are 30.5-point underdogs in this one, so you can imagine that number is there for a reason. UCF, on the other hand, comes into the contest with a 6-4 record with some tough losses on their record, so they will be favored to go 2-0 in their final couple games of the year with the competition not being what it was earlier in the year.

UConn Huskies Betting Preview:

The UConn Huskies certainly have problems on both sides of the ball, but they really have a serious problem on offense, only being able to put up 263.3 yards of total offense per game this season. Now, in the past, that would not have mattered as much in a game with UCF, as they have traditionally had one of the worst defenses in all the country. That is no longer the case, however, so the fact that Connecticut has been so poor on offense is really going to serve them poorly here, as they are unlikely to get out of the teens in this one.

Things really do not get much better with this team allowing 441.3 yards of offense to their opponents on the defensive end. Now they have faced some seriously tough offenses this year, so I give them a bit of credit here, but still, things don’t look pretty at the end of the day. In addition to that, it is not like they are playing a poor offense on the other side of the game, so this defense will need to really step up if they even want to come close to covering this gigantic spread.

If UConn has any kind of success here, it will be with the running game, and if that is the case, look out for freshman RB Nathan Carter who has been a rare bright spot for the Huskies on offense with 488 yards and a TD on the season.

UCF Knights Betting Preview:

UCF does not have the passing attack it once had, but this is still an offense gaining nearly 400 yards per game, so they are not exactly tame on that side of the ball. The rushing game is really what has got them there this year with 181.1 rushing yards per game, and they have done that with a group of talented backs as opposed to just one alpha in the backfield.

The Knight’s last game was a bit of a rough one against a very talented SMU Mustangs team, as they ended up losing that one 55-28. That really showed some of the holes in this defense, giving up 631 yards and 36 first downs to go along with those 55 points the Mustangs scored. SMU does not have an amazing defense, so it was disappointing to see the Knights put up only 28 points, but things get much easier here for them, and they really should be taking care of business in style.

Ryan O’Keefe is likely to have a big game in this one at the WR position, as the guy was decent in that SMU game, and he now has 626 yards on the season, and he gets about as good a matchup as you could ask for here, so look for him deep downfield early and often in this one.

UConn Huskies vs. UCF Knights Betting Lines & Odds

There is only one way for me to go in this one, as I think we are going to see a highly motivated Knights team after that rough loss to SMU, and the Huskies simply do not have the talent to stop them. Look for the Knights to do basically whatever they want in this game and to cover this spread quite easily in the end.
