NCAA Football Betting Preview UCLA Bruins vs. USC Trojans

UCLA very well could be carrying some big-time momentum into this game after a massive second half against the Colorado Buffaloes, as it looks like the USC Trojans might be getting this UCLA team at just the wrong time. That big win for the Bruins snapped a two-game losing streak, and their game plan coming in here will no doubt be to run the ball and lean on their strong front 7 to leave the Trojans with plenty of 3rd and long situations. The interesting thing about this game is that the Trojans will have the exact opposite plan with a strong passing attack and a solid secondary.

UCLA Bruins Betting Preview:

The Bruins are now 6-4 and have had a decent season, but you get the feeling it could have been so much better if they could have had just a little luck in the right spots. A slim loss to Fresno earlier in the year and a slim loss to the Oregon Ducks just a few weeks ago could have easily gone the other way, which would have had the Bruins at 8-2, likely with a number beside their name.

Dorian Thompson-Robinson is tasked with producing the majority of the Brusin offense both with his arm and his legs, as he looks like a very good dual-threat QB. He now has 1896 passing yards with a 14-4 TD-INT ratio and 461 rushing yards. It does seem like he is starting to try and use his legs more and more as well, as many of those rushing yards have come in the last month or so of the season.

The best matchup for the Bruins for this game will be with Zach Charbonnet, who leads the team in rushing, and that Trojans front 7 is not exactly scary. Charbonnet has a great chance to crack 1000 rushing yards in this game, as he currently sits at 864 yards, and he has proven he can find the endzone with 11 touchdowns so far.

USC Trojans Betting Preview:

Kedon Slovis is now sidelined with an injury, so that things will get shaken up a bit here for the Trojans with freshman QB Jaxson Dart thrust into the fold and what a game to make your debut as a Trojan, as it does not get a lot bigger than a game with their cross-town rivals the UCLA Bruins.

Jaxson Dart is not a complete unknown, as he has played some naps for this team, throwing 6 TD’s to 3 interceptions, with the only knock on him up to this point being a low completion percentage at 61.7%. However, that is a small sample size of just 81 attempts, so we will see how he can perform under the bright lights this Saturday.

The QB situation will probably make the coaching staff try to lean on the running game a bit more, and that might mean that Keaontay Ingram gets some additional touches here. There are multiple issues with that, as he is far and away their best option to run the ball in this game without a solid number 2 runner, and he will be running into a very strong front 7 on the side of the Bruins.

The Trojans were very bad in that last game against the Arizona State Sun Devils, only put up 312 yards of overall offense and gave up 427 yards on the other side of the ball. That certainly does not bode well coming into this one especially given how solid that second half was from the Bruins in their last game, so they really will need to rise to the occasion here if they want to pick up this big home win.

UCLA Bruins vs. USC Trojans Betting Lines & Odds

It does seem like there is plenty of money coming in on the home Trojans in this spot, which does not make a ton of sense to me, as the Bruins have so many advantages in this game. That running game is going to wear down the Trojans’ defense, and everything else in the offense will open up from that point, as the Trojans try to crowd the box. Maybe Jaxson Dart will be incredible, but I am more than willing to lay the three points with the road team here on Saturday.
