NBA Betting Preview Bulls vs. Nets

Two of the better teams in the league will face off when the visiting Brooklyn Nets come to the Windy City to take on the home Chicago Bulls. Which team has the edge in this one, and can Brooklyn win on the 2nd night of a back-to-back? Find out below.

Bulls Betting Preview:

The Chicago Bulls surprised many with their play so far this season. Many expected the Bulls to fight for the playoffs and probably even make them, but nobody quite expected the team to play this well early on. Some of those results have come from players playing a lot better than expected (DeRozan) but also them as a unit. Those who were believers from the start are happy watching this unfold the way it is currently unfolding. And the record they have is not by chance. There are some impressive wins in there, like the one in TD Garden or against Utah at home.

What is especially striking with this Chicago run is that they are not doing it the way people thought they were. They are not an elite offensive team as of now, ranking in the middle. Their pace is not as fast as people thought it was going to be with Lonzo Ball either. So what’s the key? Well, the team is playing defense and pretty good defense overall. That usually translates to beating teams you are supposed to beat, which accumulates enough wins for the postseason. The Bulls seem to be heading there, but it’s a long road. Matches like this one will prove to them and everybody whether they are for real or not.

Nets Betting Preview:

Ah, the soap opera that everybody loves to watch. It’s been an interesting couple of weeks in Brooklyn with the team racking up wins while also showing some serious flaws. It’s not been perfect so far, but it does not have to be. Kevin Durant is carrying the team on his superb talent alone, and while some players are playing good basketball, there hasn’t been anything that would make you think the Nets are an elite team. James Harden has looked shaky so far, nowhere near the level he is capable of playing.

He is shooting below average, he is not getting the calls he used to get, and it’s frustrated him quite a few times. Yet all of this is still enough for one of the better records in the east. That is scary, and teams know that Brooklyn, over time, will only get better. I mean, if you rank in the bottom half on offense with Durant and Harden on your team, then it has to become better over time. Other players will need to step up as well, but over time it will get there. Their defense has been a positive for the Nets, which is pretty good considering how many questions marks it had going into the season. If they can sustain and even build upon that, watch out.

Key matchups

Zach LaVine – James Harden

Both Trae Young and Mike Conley had very good outings in their last matches, scoring over 20. Their matchup will be The shooting guards for their teams will be extremely important in this matchup. Both of the them can score in the high 30s if they need to, yet what sort of impact they have on their teams will determine the match. Harden is not shooting well, but he is assisting quite a bit and if the Bulls can limit his offensive production, they will have more time to deal with Durant.

Durant – anybody

The Nets will win or lose, depending on what Durant can do. The superstar has been carrying them so far, and without his massive output, the Nets would not have won as many matches as they would. Against a good team like the Bulls, he will need to do that and even more. The Bulls have nobody that can guard Durant one on one. It will be a team effort, and it will need to be a very good one if they hope to win.

Bulls vs. Nets betting lines

The Utah Jazz is a one-point favorite on the road, which is expected considering they are supposed to be the superior t3,5 points favor the Blazers at home, and that seems about right. That home crowd might just be what gets them over the hump, especially with the Pacers losing all road games this season so far. The points are set at 222, and that’s no surprise as this match has over-written all over it.

The Brooklyn Nets are coming to the Windy City on the 2nd night of a back-to-back. It’s a tough one after facing Toronto, but the Nets were able to pull that one out. It was an early day game, so they will have a few more hours to rest up before this match. Both Durant and Harden played heavy minutes, but they are used to it.

It mostly comes down to whether you trust the Bulls to win this at home. The Nets are heating up, they won 5 in a row, and they can win this match. I will trust the Bulls in this spot to win and cover the 1,5.

When it comes to the points, I tend to lean towards the under. Fatigue will be a factor, and with the Bulls’ solid defense, I think they can keep it under 215.
