CFB Betting Oregon Ducks vs. Washington Huskies

The Oregon Ducks have surprised plenty of people this year with their mighty 7-1 run to start the season, but they will be tested once again by a tough Washington Huskies team who could certainly pull off an upset just like Stanford earlier in the year.

The Ducks are formidable, though, as their schedule has not exactly been a soft one, and they proved a lot in that win over Ohio State earlier in the year, so it makes sense that the bookmakers would have the visitors as 7 point favorites for this one. The Washington Huskies should have plenty of belief that they can get the job done here, as not only do they have the home fans behind them, but they also just beat the same Stanford Cardinal team who beat this Ducks side.

Oregon Ducks Betting Preview:

This year, Oregon has got the job done by running the ball efficiently and showing up with timely defense even if their overall numbers are pretty awful. They come into this one off of beating the Colorado Buffaloes 52-29, and when you put up 52 points, it is very rarely going to matter how your defense plays.

Anthony Brown at the QB position really played outstanding in that game, throwing for 307 yards and 3 TD’s with no picks and did all that while completing 80.6% of his passes. If Brown has anything close to a game like that again, the Ducks will crush because what this team really lives off is a stellar running game.

The Ducks leading rusher is Travis Dye, who has racked up 600+ yards and 10 touchdowns, but they also have a solid backup in CJ Verdell, and you can never underestimate the rushing upside that Anthony Brown has.

With all that said, Oregon does have a big problem and that is the defense that has managed to give up 443.1 yards per game this season. The main problem is the secondary, which allows 261.1 passing yards, which gives the Washington Huskies a clear path to victory. If the Oregon Ducks will make the College Football Playoff and make any kind of noise, the defense will need to turn things around in a hurry.

Washington Huskies Betting Preview:

On the other side of the equation, the Huskies are an interesting team because you certainly feel like they are a bit better than their record would suggest. You also feel like they are starting to get things together after some surprising losses early in the season with two wins in their last two games against solid opponents.

The Huskies’ offense has been okay this season. Still, a lot of their mediocrity may very well be mitigated by the poor defense they face on the other side of the ball, and if QB Dylan Morris can avoid turning the ball over, the Huskies will be cookin’.

Morris is just a freshman, so some of those mistakes can be forgiven, but the 8 interceptions he already has is a worrying sign coming into this game. He has not turned the ball over in those last two games, and that was a big reason the Huskies won, and it will be no different here on Saturday.

The biggest advantage that the Huskies have is the defensive advantage, as their defense has been much better than that of Oregon. They have the front 7 to slow down this rushing attack and possibly get Anthony Brown to make mistakes and force turnovers.

Oregon Ducks vs. Washington Huskies Betting Lines & Odds

This seems pretty cut and dry to me; this is just too many points on the road with a defense I have no faith in. The Ducks certainly have the better offense, but this is a really tough matchup especially compared to what they faced last game against Colorado.

I think many people are really high on the Ducks right now, and it makes sense, but I would have had this line at 4.5, so there is some clear line value in my eyes. This Huskies offense should be good enough to get rolling here, and with the home crowd behind them, I also see the defense stepping up and possibly causing a big upset.
