NCAA Football Betting Preview Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Auburn Tigers

One of the critical games during rivalry week in terms of the playoff is this Crimson Tide vs. Auburn matchup which seems to be an opportunity for Alabama to put up a big win against a rather underwhelming Tigers side. Just a quick glance at the stats, and you can see why the bookies have the Crimson Tide listed as nearly 3 TD favorites, as you have a team putting up over 500 yards of offense per game against a team who can’t really defend. Now it has not all been sunshine and rainbows for Bama in 2021, but at least on paper, it looks like this will be nothing more than a track meet for Jameson Williams and Co.

Alabama Crimson Tide Betting Preview:

The Crimson Tide are now 10-1 on the season, with their sole loss coming against Texas A&M, which at the end of the day was an unfortunate loss gaining about 150 more yards than A&M in that contest. Most media and fans probably don’t talk too much about that game when they express their concerns over this 2021 edition of the Crimson Tide, but rather some of their awfully underwhelming wins.

First of all, the Crimson Tide have not had a very tough schedule at all, and most people looking at this schedule in the preseason would have expected them to go undefeated. Their last game is one of those types of games where you just feel that Alabama should not have allowed the Razorbacks to hang around, as they only ended up winning that game by 7 points when they were favored by 20.5. Those types of performances go in the win column, but don’t leave fans feeling great when the likes of Georgia await on the horizon.

The most worrying part of that last game certainly was the way the defense looked, as the vaunted Alabama defense full of future NFL’s appears just not to be there when they come up against the best of the best. On the other hand, the offense does not cause the same worry amongst fans, as they have been cruising all year long.

Everything obviously starts with QB Bryce Young, a beast this year, putting up 3584 passing yards and a ridiculous 38-3 TD-INT ratio. I expect him to pad those stats in a big way this Saturday, and I would not be surprised if he cracks 4000+ passing yards for the regular season once this one is all said and done.

Auburn Tigers Betting Preview:

The Alabama portion of this article is longer than the Tigers portion of the article because everything about this Auburn team just kind of makes me shrug my shoulders and go “meh.” They have now lost three straight games, and their big victory of the season came against Ole Miss, who they frankly caught sleepwalking into that one.

I can give these guys that they can play a bit of defense, as this unit did well to hold A&M to 20, Arkansas to 23, and even a rough-looking LSU to 19. Unfortunately for the Tigers, I just don’t think they have any chance in the world of slowing down the Crimson Tide, so they are going to be forced to put up 35+ here if they want any chance of keeping this one close. The best the Tigers defense can hope for in this one is that they can create some short fields for their offense, but again, kind of unlikely against a QB who has faced tougher defenses and only thrown three picks in 2021.

There is another caveat to this matchup as well, as the Tigers will still be without their starting QB Bo Nix for this one. That leaves the offense in the hands of sophomore TJ Finley who looked somewhat decent against the Gamecocks, but in my opinion, he should be getting this team over the line against South Carolina even under tough circumstances. I will be cheering for him to have a good individual performance this Saturday, but the only way to go is with Alabama in a rout from a betting perspective.

Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Auburn Tigers Betting Lines & Odds

I know it’s rivalry week, and everything and these guys are going to be pumped up, but this is just not enough points. I don’t know if it’s just because everyone is a bit sour on the Crimson Tide this year, but I have a feeling they are going to make this point spread look like a joke come halftime. I can only see this number heading back in favor of Alabama come kickoff, so it might be good to get on this one earlier rather than later.
