UFC Fight Night 105 is in Halifax, Nova Scotia this week with a 12 fight card that looks very appealing and there are some decent value picks that we are handicapping for this card. If you’ve been following our plays lately, you know that we have gone 10-2 on the year and have had winning weeks every event in 2017!

Travis Brown vs. Derek Lewis

The first fight we are looking at is the main event between Travis Brown and Derek Lewis in the UFC Heavyweight Division. This fight was originally scheduled to take place at UFC 208 but they juggled fights to other cards to make up for injuries and lost fights.

Brown is coming into this fight off a devastating loss against Fabricio Werdum by unanimous decision, where Werdum totally dominated the fight from start to finish. The fight prior to Werdum, Brown lost by 1st round KO to Cain Velasquez. Overall, Brown has lost the past 4 of 6 fights and his record now stands at 18-5.

Derrick Lewis is 17-4 overall and is on a 5 fight win streak. Lewis has 16 of 17 wins by stoppage, 15 by knockout! He has only gone the distance 3 times in 21 fights. This guy either knocks you out or gets knocked out!

With an impressive victory here, Lewis will be in line for a title shot. He has a tendency of gassing early in the fight and so does Brown. Both of these guys come out and swing for the fences. Brown has very good takedowns so he may go for takedowns early and try to ground and pound Lewis. Either way, this fight isn’t gonna make it out of the 1st round.

  • Pick: 3* Derrick Lewis vs. Travis Brown UNDER 1.5 Rounds -115

Carla Esparza vs. Randa Markos

Carla Esparza will be taking on Randa Markos in the ladies Strawweight Division. Carla Esparza is coming off a win following the loss of her UFC Strawweight title to Joanna Jedrzejczyk. Esparza defeated Rose Namajunas in The Ultimate Fighter Series 20 finale to win the crown.

Randa Markos is 6-4 overall and 2-3 in the UFC. She also competed on The Ultimate Fighter Series 20 but lost on the show to Rose Namajunas, who later went on to fight in the finals. Markos does not have a win over a active fighter on the UFC roster.

This fight will be a slow, methodical fight between two ladies that are not known for finishes. Both of these ladies combined have 24 professional fights between them and only 10 finishes. Most of their fights go the distance. This fight should be no different. I think this fight will go to a decision.

  • Pick: 2* Play on Carla Esparza vs. Randa Markos OVER 2.5 Rounds -325

Paul Felder vs. Alex Ricci

Paul Felder will step back inside the cage where he made his UFC debut in Halifax, Nova Scotia to take on Alex Ricci. Both of these guys are mirror images of one another and this fight should be, in my opinion, Fight of the Night.

Paul Felder is an exciting fighter in the lightweight division and is very tough to stop. In his 7 UFC fights, only one has been under the 2.5 round mark. He has fought to 4 decision, got a submission late in the 3rd round against Daron Cruckshank and also got KO’d in his last fight at the hands of Francisco Trinaldo at the 2:25 mark in the 3rd round.

Alex Ricci is looking to make a better showing in his UFC follow up to his debut. In his last fight against Jeremy Kennedy, Ricci went the distance but lost after being controlled the entire fight. Ricci has 10 wins and out of those 10 wins, 5 are by KO and 5 are by decision. All 4 of his losses come by way of decision.

This fight has decision written all over it. Both fighters are one dimensional fighters that will stand there and box.

  • Pick: 2* Play on Paul Felder vs. Alex Ricci Over 2.5 Rounds -240
