NHL Game 3 Betting: Montreal Canadiens vs. New York Rangers

The New York Rangers have looked to be all the part of the enforcers in this Western Conference Finals series. They’ve not only take advantage of home ice in the series, but they left Montreal with a 2-0 series lead, and are now looking to possibly get a sweep on their home ice by looking to win Games 3 and 4. The series starts up again on Thursday, May 22nd, and the Canadiens are badly going to need to get things going both offensively and defensively to have a shot in this series. The Rangers dominated Game 1 by a score of 7-2, and then won Game 2 by a score of 3-1, stepping up their defense and pretty much just making life tough on the Canadiens.

The Canadiens just couldn’t find a way past Henrik Lundqvist in Game 2, as he was able to stop 40 of their shots. The good news at least for the Canadiens is that they are finding a way to get shots, but just not being able to convert them. It really has hurt the Canadiens that they are without star goalie Carey Price due to an injury, and while they came out strong in Game 2, it wasn’t enough to beat Lundqvist and the Rangers’ offense.

The Rangers had 30 shots on goal themselves, and although they were down 1-0 to start Game 2, they rallied quickly and took the lead, only to extend it to a 3-1 win. Now, they are huge favorites back on their home ice, and are just two wins away from going to the Stanley Cup Final. If they can continue to get the strong play like in Game 2 from Lundqvist, then I’m not sure who’s going to be able to beat this team out of the remaining teams in the playoffs, or anyone in the NHL for that matter.

Finding a Way to Score

The Canadiens were getting the shots, but they just weren’t able to finish it up. If they can find a way to do that in Game 3 then they’ll have a shot to get this series closer, but if not then they’re going to be in major trouble. No matter how they do it, they have to get some goals.

Consensus

The Rangers are huge favorites of -172, and it’s for good reason based on what we’ve seen in this series so far. They have so much talent and are just clicking on all cylinders. It’s tough to bet against a team like that, and I’m going to be taking the Rangers to win this game.
