NHL Betting Preview: Los Angeles Kings vs. New York Rangers- June 9th, 2014

The New York Rangers have failed to hold on to quite a few two goal leads to kick off the 2014 NHL Stanley Cup Finals, but fortunately for them, they now are getting back to New York and have a shot to win two on their home ice and even up this series. The Rangers may be down 2-0 right now, but they definitely aren’t out by a long shot. Game 2 was a tough one, was the Rangers were ahead 2-0, 3-1 and 4-2 before eventually losing in double overtime. It’s been both impressive comebacks by the Los Angeles Kings, but also a few tough losses to swallow for both the Rangers and their fans. Now though, Game 3 is the Rangers’ chance to get this series one game closer in front of a home crowd who should be all-in. The puck drops at 8:00pm EST tonight.

The Kings have now become the first team in the history of the NHL to win three games in a row in the playoffs after being down by two goals in each of the games. What’s even more surprising is the fact that the Rangers hadn’t given up a third period lead in ten contests before this game, making it their first time in 11 games that they failed to hold on. The Kings have to be feeling good, but not that good right now, as they haven’t officially had a lead at any point during either of the two games in the series.

Now for the Rangers, this team was right there, and now they have to bounce back. While the fourth goal for the Kings in Game 2 was a controversial one, and Rangers’ goalie Henrik Lundqvist made sure that it was known. He said the team needs to focus on moving on, which is obviously tough to do. The Rangers have actually looked to be the much better team for many parts of this series, and actually it looked as though they were poised to run away with both of the first two games at times.

This is expected to be one of the hottest tickets ever in New York, and I believe that the fans will play a role. Home ice is big, and the Rangers not only will come out looking to make a statement early and often, but they’ll be fighting to the finish to make sure they get this win. They have current odds of -140, which are pretty tough odds, but I’m still rolling with the home team to get the win here.
