NHL Betting Preview: Chicago Blackhawks vs. Los Angeles Kings- May 24th, 2014

The Chicago Blackhawks and Los Angeles Kings are locked in an exciting Western Conference Finals series that looks more and more like it could end up pushing towards seven games. The Blackhawks took a 1-0 lead on their home ice, but after losing home ice by getting knocked off in Game 2 thanks to a huge third period, the series is evened up at 1-1. The Kings scored five goals in the third period of Game 2 in Chicago when they were down 2-1 at the time, and this led to them pulling off an incredible single period of hockey, and also heading back to Los Angeles with home ice in their favor. Now they look to grab the lead in the series in this game at home, and it’s likely that we could see the Kings get the job done.

The Blackhawks were looking solid going into the third period, but just like we’ve seen this Kings team do in the past, they were able to rally and come from behind in the postseason. The Blackhawks should have been prepared, becomes the comeback kings in Los Angeles showed us once again how they’ve earned that nickname. The Blackhawks just couldn’t slow down the Kings at the end of Game 2, and they’ll have to come out with intensity and improvement on defense if they want to steal this game on the road.

For the Kings, it was Jeff Carter leading the way with three of the six straight goals that the team had, as they won 6-2 in Game 2. The offense for the Kings just started hitting on all cylinders in this game, and it was scary to watch them just get it done in that impressive of fashion in the third period. This is why they are such a dangerous team, and their offense can really turn it on at any point, even against a team who had won their first seven home playoff games of the 2014 season.

Consensus

Game 3 is set to get underway on Saturday, and the Kings not only have the momentum now, but they are heading back home as well. They are betting favorites in this game with odds -124, which isn’t awful to have to lay, but the Blackhawks are definitely a dangerous team. Regardless, I think with how the Kings finished Game 2, and how excited their fans will be, they’ll grab Game 3 to get a 2-1 series lead. I’m betting on the Kings here.
