Super Bowl 51 ATS Pick: Atlanta Falcons vs. New England Patriots

Get our top betting pick for Super Bowl 51.

The final game of the 2016-2017 NFL season is upon us and the Atlanta Falcons will be taking on the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl 51. These two teams haven’t played each other much. Over the past 20 years, they have only stepped on the field 5 times against each other with the Patriots holding the edge SU and ATS by count of 4-1.

Deflate Gate Or Not, Patriots Are Going To Super Bowl 51

In a season that started out with Tom Brady suspended for 4 games and the Patriot fans wondering the effect it would have on the season, the Patriots made a statement, winning 14 out of 16 games on the year and securing the #1 seed in the AFC. During Brady’s suspension, the Pats went 3-1, with their only loss coming to Buffalo in a weather impacted 16-0 game. Since Brady’s return, the Pat’s have only lost 1 game to the Seahawks 31-21.

The Patriots are on a 9 game win streak and are 8-0 on the road this year. The offense is averaging 28.4 points per game, while the defense is only allowing 15.7 points per game to their opposition.

Falcons Playing In Their 2nd Super Bowl

The Atlanta Falcons are going to their 2nd Super Bowl in the franchise’s history. Last week, they totally beat up on the Green Bay Packers in a game that sort of looked like a College team playing a High School/Pop Warner team. It was never close and the Falcons made it look easy.

Matt Ryan has been MVP quality this year passing for 5674 yards, 45 touchdowns and only 7 interceptions. The offense is averaging 34.8 points per game and they are playing very good football right now. In their last 10 games, they have only scored under 33 points on two occasions. In those same 10 games, they have scored over 41 points 4 times. They are the #1 offense in the NFL and they can score!

The 2nd Year Coach vs. The Old Veteran Coach

This game simply comes down to who will prepare their team better for the big game. 2nd year Atlanta Coach Dan Quinn is doing a great job this year preparing his team each week but now is the time for Super Bowl 51 and with 2 weeks to prepare, he will need to be flawless in his approach as he will oppose the other sideline one of, if not the best ever, head coach Bill Belichick.

Belichick is a mastermind and in my opinion, the best coach ever to stand on the sideline. He has a way of simply preparing a team to play and making mediocre players, look like All Star caliber players! This year, he made a lacrosse player, Chris Hogan, into a legitimate threat at Wide Receiver and went 3-1 without his starting QB to start the year. The man is a football genius and giving him 2 weeks to prepare for any football game is tough for any team to go up against. Just to give you an idea of how good this man is, this will be his 10th coaching appearance in a Super Bowl, which basically means he has coached in nearly 20% of all Super Bowls!

I think the Patriots will be too much for Atlanta. I think the Pat’s defense will show up with a chip on their shoulder that they will want to shut down the #1 offense in the NFL. I’m looking for a high scoring affair but the Patriots coming out on top at the end. My official 2 Star Play for Super Bowl 51 is New England Patriots -3.
