NFL Pick: Denver Broncos at New England Patriots

It’s a big game in the National Football League on Sunday when a pair of AFC powers collide in Foxboro. The Denver Broncos and New England Patriots will square off in Week 9. The Denver Broncos come into the game with the best record in all of the National Football League, at 6-1. They are leading the AFC West over the San Diego Chargers. Denver has won four straight games and have scored 224 points; third most in the AFC. For New England, they have won four games in a row and have a 6-2 overall record. The Patriots are coming off their blow-out win at home over the Chicago Bears. New England has scored 238 points; which is second most in the NFL.

The New England Patriots are of course led by their quarterback. The veteran Tom Brady has been solid the last four weeks. Overall, Brady has thrown for over 2,000 yards and 18 touchdowns. His top targets have been Rob Gronkowski and Julian Edelman. Gronkowski, the tight end has caught 7 touchdowns, while Edelman leads with 45 receptions. New England ranks 2nd in defending the pass; allowing just 210.9 yards per game. New England in home games are winning by an average of 16 points per game. The Patriots are 4-0 in those games. The Patriots are heading to their bye week next week, and then will face another tough AFC test as they head to Indianapolis in Week 11.

The Denver Broncos are also headed by a great veteran quarterback. Peyton Manning, the MVP from a season ago has been sensational once again. The quarterback has over 2,100 passing yards and 22 touchdowns. The Broncos receiving core has been dangerous, as Julius Thomas, DeMaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders have combined for 14 touchdowns. Ronnie Hillman has taken over as the top running back for Denver, and has 2 touchdowns on the ground. The Broncos have not lost since their 26-20 overtime loss in Seattle during Week 3. The Broncos are playing in their third road game of the season. This is the first of three straight games away from Denver for the Broncos.

It’s rare that a road team is favored at Foxboro, but that is what is happening in this game. The Denver Broncos have been the best team in the NFL this season, and odds makers are using that to their advantage in this game. We really feel this will be a great game, but surprisingly, we think New England has enough to keep up in this game. If the Patriots defense can come to play like they did for much of the win over the Bears, New England can win this game. We are going to bet the home underdog in this game. Our final bet is the New England Patriots +3 over the Denver Broncos on Sunday afternoon.
