NFL Pick: Chicago Bears at New England Patriots

We are ready to roll with some National Football League action in Week 8. The Chicago Bears and New England Patriots will get together in a battle of the NFC invading the AFC. The Chicago Bears come into the game with a 3-4 record; they are coming off a bad loss to the Miami Dolphins at home a week ago. The Bears three wins have come at San Francisco, at the New York Jets and at the Atlanta Falcons. For New England, they have won three straight games since their tough loss on Monday Night Football to Kansas City. The other loss for the Patriots this season came on September 7th at the Miami Dolphins.

The New England Patriots are of course led by quarterback Tom Brady. Brady has completed 151 of 246 passes for 1,705 yards and 13 touchdowns. Brady’s top target has been tight end Rob Gronkowski, who leads the team with four touchdown receptions. THe running game for the Patriots has been anchored by Stevan Ridley, but he is out for the season with a torn ACL. New England is in first place in the AFC East, leading the Buffalo Bills by a single game. New England is playing in their second of three straight home games. Next week, the Patriots will host the Denver Broncos before heading into their bye week.

For the Chicago Bears, they are loaded with offensive weapons. In saying that, the Bears looked poor a week ago offensively. The Bears scored just 14 points in the game, which resulted in arguments between players in the locker room following the game. Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffrey are the top receivers, but running back Matt Forte leads the team in receptions, with 52. Forte has also rushed the football 111 times for 448 yards and 3 touchdowns. Chicago trails both Green Bay and Detroit in the NFC North. A season ago, the Bears were in the chase for the division all the way until losses to the Eagles and Packers. Chicago will head to their bye week next week, before playing a road game at the Green Bay Packers.

The Chicago Bears are tough to figure out. All three of their wins have been on the road, while they are winless on the road. Of course this game is on the road, and they are coming off a loss, so look for the Bears to come out with a lot of energy in this game. The Patriots will come away with a win in this game, but do not be surprised at all if this game is close. We think it will be a very tight game, therefore we are going to bet the road team, Chicago Bears +7 over the New England Patriots.
