NCAA Football: TCU Horned Frogs at Baylor Bears

It’s time to prepare for Week 7 of the NCAA Football season. There are a ton of great games on tap for Saturday. One of the best games of the week, and one of four involving two ranked teams features the TCU Horned Frogs at the Baylor Bears. Both teams are unbeaten, and both teams have moved into the Top 10 of the Associated Press poll. The Horned Frogs are coming off a home upset over the Oklahoma Sooners. Before that, TCU had wins over Samford, Minnesota and SMU. The Baylor Bears have played three straight games on the road. In those games, they downed Buffalo, Iowa State and also the Texas Longhorns. The two previous games, the Bears picked up victories over SMU, Northwestern State.

The Baylor Bears are the top scoring team in all of college football. The Bears are scoring 51 points per game, despite scoring just 28 last week. In the other four wins, Baylor scored 45, 70, 63 and 49. The offense sees both the rushing game and the passing game ranked in the Top 20. The running game is averaging 247.4 yards per game, while the passing game is picking up over 343 yards per game. Baylor’s top threat on offense is their man under center. Bryce Petty has been sensational thus far, with 1,024 yards passing and 9 touchdowns. The top touchdown man in 2014 has been running back Shock Linwood, with 8. The Bears play at West Virginia next week.

For the TCU Horned Frogs, they did not have huge expectations put on them to start the season. The Horned Frogs came into the big national picture after their win over Oklahoma. The Horned Frogs are scoring 42.8 points per game, which ranks 12th in the country. Defensively, TCU is yielding just 13.5 points per game, which ranks 7th in the country. Quarterback Trevone Boykin has thrown for over 1,100 yards and 10 touchdowns on the season.  Boykin is also the leading rusher for TCU. Boykin has carried the football 51 times, for 260 yards and 3 touchdowns. The Horned Frogs will play their third ranked opponent in a row next week when they host the Oklahoma State Cowboys.

The Las Vegas line is a little bit higher than many expected it to be. They are not giving the Horned Frogs much of a chance to win this game. It’s a two score difference in the Las Vegas line in this one. The Baylor Bears have the best offense in the country, but TCU has shown the ability to score. Despite saying all of that, we look for a big win for the Baylor Bears. They appear to be a team on a mission right now. Therefore, in the end, we are going to bet the Baylor Bears -8 over the TCU Horned Frogs. Good luck and go Bears!
