NCAA Football Preview: Toledo Rockets at Cincinnati Bearcats

In NCAA Football, the Toledo Rockets will take on the Cincinnati Bearcats on Friday evening. The Rockets come into the game following their Week 2 loss at home to Missouri. They are 1-1 on the season. Cincinnati is surprisingly playing in their season opener. They are the final team in college football to open their season.

The Bearcats finished the regular season with a 9-3 record a season ago. Cincinnati went to the Belk Bowl and were downed by North Carolina. Cincinnati also lost their season finale; to Louisville in overtime. Toledo is coming off a 7-5 season of a year ago, losing their final two games; at home to Northern Illinois and then on the road at Akron.

The Bearcats now play in the American Conference, where after two weeks of play; have no team that has yet to be beat, besides Cincinnati. Cincinnati will not start their quarterback Munchie Legeaux, who missed last season with an injury. The Bearcats lose receiver Anthony McClung, but will turn to Junior Shaq Washington.

For Toledo, they are seeking a bounce back after the disappointment of last week. After putting up 54 points in the win over New Hampshire, the Rockets were only able to get to 24 against the Tigers. The Rockets offense turned the ball over twice in the loss as well.

The top contributors offensively for Toledo have been running back Kareem Hunt, along with receivers Alonzo Russell and Corey Jones. Hunt leads the team with 5 touchdown runs, while Russell and Jones have combined for 20 catches, 260+ yards and a touchdown. Toledo ranks 30th and 32nd respectively in passing and rushing yards with 308 and 230.

This should be an interesting game, with the Bearcats playing in their home opener. It’s hard to tell where Cincinnati will be in this game. We know Toledo will play pretty tough. We were surprised the Rockets were less than a touchdown underdog a week ago. They did not cover that game, and we are not sure they will be able to cover this game as well. The Bearcats come into the game at -10. We are going to bet Cincinnati -10 in this game over Toledo on Friday night.
