NCAA Football: Oregon Ducks vs. Arizona Wildcats

It’s time for the SEC title game. The game is scheduled for Saturday afternoon at 3pm CST at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta. The top ranked Alabama Crimson Tide will take on the Missouri Tigers. Alabama comes into the game with an 11-1 record, including 7-1 in SEC play. The Crimson Tide’s lone loss came on October 4th at Ole Miss. Alabama has won 7 straight games since then, including scoring 55 in the win over rival Auburn a week ago. For Missouri, after a non conference loss to the Indiana Hoosiers, the Tigers lost again 34-0 to Georgia on October 11th. Following that, the Tigers won their last six games to win the SEC East. Missouri downed Arkansas last week to seal the deal.

The Alabama Crimson Tide have been great on both sides of the football. The Crimson Tide are scoring 36.7 points per game, which ranks 20th in the country. On the defensive side of the ball, Alabama is allowing 16.9 points per game. The Crimson Tide passing game has been key offensively. Alabama is throwing for over 282 yards per game. The quarterback for Alabama has been Blake Sims. He is 207 for 328 for just shy of 3,000 yards and 24 touchdowns. The top threat for Alabama is T.J. Yeldon, the running back, along with Amari Cooper, the best receiver. Those two are combining for 22 touchdowns. Alabama beat six teams on their schedule that were ranked inside the Top 25.

The Missouri Tigers are of course the big underdog in this game. The Tigers have not been flashy, but their two losses have shown the ability to play in the SEC. Missouri is ranked 13th in the nation defensively, allowing 19.7 yards per game. On the offensive side, Matty Mauk, the quarterback has again put up solid numbers. Mauk has thrown for 2,279 yards and 22 touchdowns. Mauk’s top target has been tight end Bud Sasser. Sasser has caught 65 passes for 9 touchdowns on the season. Missouri has won all of their last five games by 10 points or less.

This game has the potential to be very ugly. Sure, there is a lot on the line. The Crimson Tide will of course be in the national title game with a win. Missouri on the other hand could possibly sneak into the picture, but likely would not regardless if they win or not. If the Tigers win, the SEC could actually be shut-out of the national title chances. Alabama’s led by Nick Saban, who continues to show his ability to coach in big games. The Vegas line for this game opened at -14.5 in favor of the Crimson Tide. That is a ton of points, especially in a conference title game. But, the Crimson Tide are a really good team, and we feel they will blow the doors open late in the game. We are going to bet the Alabama Crimson Tide -14.5 over the Missouri Tigers on Saturday afternoon.
