NCAA Football: Mississippi State Bulldogs at Alabama Crimson Tide

In one of the biggest games, not only in Week 12, but in all of  the college football season; two teams in the Top 5 will get together on Saturday. At Bryant-Denny Stadium, the Alabama Crimson Tide will host the Bulldogs of Mississippi State. Alabama is ranked 5th in the most recent poll, while the Bulldogs are the top ranked team in the country. Alabama is 8-1 on the season with their lone loss coming to Ole Miss on the road. For the Bulldogs, they have won all 9 of their games this season. Alabama is 5-1 in conference play, while the Bulldogs, of course are unbeaten. With a win here, and a win over Auburn, the Crimson Tide would play in the SEC title game. Mississippi State would need this one, and wins over Vanderbilt and Ole Miss as well.

Nick Saban and his Alabama Crimson TIde rank within the Top 40 in both passing yards per game and rushing yards per game. The Crimson Tide are rushing for 206 yards per game, while passing for 281 per game. Alabama’s quarterback has been Blake Sims. He has thrown for over 2,200 yards and 17 touchdowns on the season. The Crimson Tide’s running back T.J Yeldon has rushed for 686 yards on 135 carries and 5 touchdowns. The top threat for the Crimson Tide on offense has been the speedy Amari Cooper, with 10 touchdowns. Alabama is playing their sixth home game; looking to stay unbeaten.

The Mississippi State Bulldogs are coming off a 7-6 season of a year ago. The Bulldogs won in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl over the Rice Owls a season ago. Mississippi State lost this tilt with Alabama 20-7 a season ago; which sent them to 4-6 on the season. Things have changed this season; as they are winning by an average of 20 points per game. The Bulldogs have used their rushing attack, which averages 254.9 per game to anchor the offense. Mississippi State is scoring 39.8 points per game. The duo of running backs and quarterback Josh Robinson and Dak Prescott have combined for 22 rushing touchdowns. Prescott has tossed for more than 2,200 yards and 18 touchdowns.

It’s not real often you see the top ranked team in the country as an underdog, and definitely not as a double digit underdog. Nick Saban and his Alabama Crimson Tide will be ready for this game, you can bet on it. Mississippi State certainly will be ready to go, but we look for them to be a little in over their head in Tuscaloosa. We expect the Alabama Crimson Tide to absolutely blow-out the Bulldogs in this one. While we do not think the Bulldogs are not worthy of their top ranking, we are more buy-ing into Alabama in this game. Our bet for this game is the Alabama Crimson Tide -10 over the Mississippi State Bulldogs on Saturday evening.
