2017 NBA Slam Dunk Contest Betting Odds, Picks & Predictions

Derrick Jones is our pick to win the 2017 NBA Dunk Contest.

NBA All Star Weekend is this week and one of the fans favorite event is the Slam Dunk Competition. The Slam Dunk Contest consists of 2 rounds of dunks. Each contestant will get 2 dunks in the first round. The contestants will have 3 chances to successfully make both dunks in the first round. The 2 players with the highest combined scores of both dunks, will move on to the second round.

The judges will score this contest using a 6-10 scoring scale. The highest score available is 50 and the lowest being 30. The judges for this years Slam Dunk Contest are former Slam Dunk Winner Dominique Wilkins, Gary Payton, David Robinson, Chris Webber and Alonzo Mourning.

The Contestants

Aaron Gordon (Orlando Magic) -170

The favorite this year to win the Slam Dunk Competition is Aaron Gordon. Last year, Aaron Gordon was straight up robbed of winning to Zach Lavine in what was probably one of the top 5 all time best dunks in the history of the competition.

Derrick Jones (Phoenix Suns) +141

Derrick Jones, also known as “Airplane Mode”, won the 2015 National High School Slam Dunk Contest. Jones is a 6’07 high flyer that has played for the Phoenix Suns and also their developmental affiliate team, North Arizona Suns. This guy has a bunch of dunks on Youtube to view and is relatively unknown.

Glenn Robinson III (Indiana Pacers) +966

Glenn Robinson asked his fans on Twitter on February 7 for some ideas on what dunks he should do at the Slam Dunk Contest. On February 9, he posted DONT SLEEP #ALLSTARWEEKEND #DUNKCONTEST and at the bottom of the photo, he used hashtag #SHOCKTHEWORLD

DeAndre Jordan (LA Clippers) +1258

DeAndre Jordan is in the slam dunk contest. That is about all we can say about him. This guy is just too big to compete and win this thing. He is 6’11 and over 260 lbs He doesn’t have the athleticism and aerial capabilities as the other 3. He does have the most dunks in the league but that is mostly because he is a power dunker from under the basket playing center.

  • My Pick: Derrick Jones +141
