NBA Betting Preview: Miami Heat vs. Indiana Pacers- May 28th, 2014

Is this the end of the line for the Indiana Pacers? Their backs are now against the wall, down 3-1 against their biggest rival in the Miami Heat. The series is heading back to Indiana, but that may not matter as the Heat have had the Pacers’ number. Game 4 didn’t go how the Pacers had hoped, as they were looking to steal a game in Miami to even this series back up and grab home court advantage again. Game 3 was pretty much summed up by Miami outscoring the Pacers by 11 in the third quarter, and it was just too much for the Pacers to overcome. Now Game 5 is set for Wednesday night at 8:30pm EST.

The Heat were led by their big three as they were the only three players on the Heat to score over ten points. LeBron James had another great game with 32 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists. When the Heat are hitting on all cylinders, they’re a tough out, and the Pacers, even though they want to beat their rivals so bad, are in a tough spot. The Heat have all of the confidence and momentum after winning three straight, and now they are going to Indiana with a chance to ruin the Pacers’ season on their home floor.

The Pacers on the other side saw big man Roy Hibbert just completely become nonexistent again in Game 4, as he had 0 points and just 5 rebounds. When Hibbert struggles, the Pacers seem to struggle, and that’s turned things into a major issue. If the Pacers want to have any shot at getting back in this series, they need to get David West some help, and that help needs to come in the form of Hibbert.

Pacers’ Offense

I can say it over and over again, but the Pacers need to find offense in some way. It seems that no matter what happens, the bulk of the issue is that they can’t score on the Heat, or score nearly enough to win games. Game 1 was huge for the Pacers, and they need to get back to that style of play.

While the Heat come into this game as -2 point favorites, it’s really tough to just give in on the Pacers, but I believe that it’s time. The Pacers have a ton of talent, but the Heat just have their number right now. I’m taking the Heat to get the cover and the win to move on to the NBA Finals.
