NBA Betting Preview: Los Angeles Clippers vs. Oklahoma City Thunder- May 13th, 2014

The Los Angeles Clippers made an amazing comeback in Game 4 of this intense NBA Playoff series, and now they’ve evened things up at 2-2. If they had lost that game, going down 3-1 heading back to Oklahoma City would have been an absolute disaster, but it’s one that they were able to avoid. The Thunder and Clippers have been mixed up in what’s been a physical series with both teams saying that their opponents are pushing, shoving, and hanging on them. That just makes the story lines even better though, and Game 5 of this series is sure to get everyone’s attention, and could end up being the deciding game potentially. More than likely though, I see this one going to seven games, and setting us up for an epic final game of the series to see who moves on. Tip off tonight is set for 9:30pm EST.

The Clippers may have won 57 games in the regular season, which is a franchise record, but they’ve had a tough offseason with the off the court drama. They’ve gotten it together well though, and Chris Paul, Blake Griffin and company are playing some great basketball. That comeback last game was incredibly impressive, and if they can get past this Thunder team somehow, I believe they could shock many people and have a serious shot at contending for an NBA Title, and possibly beating whoever makes it out of the West, although they’d still have to top the juggernaut San Antonio Spurs though.

The Thunder are led by their two superstars in Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook, and Durant just recently won the MVP award. They’re going to need him to keep putting up MVP-caliber performances for this team to move on, because he and Westbrook both have had big games where the team ends up losing, which is pretty discouraging. Regardless, this team is still a definite favorite to make it to the NBA Finals, and thanks to a powerful offense, there’s no question that they could win it all this season.

Offensive Game

Expect more high scoring on Tuesday night, largely due to the fact that even if these two teams want to play strong defense, the offenses are just too powerful. I like the talent on both sides, and I think that we see a shootout happen in Oklahoma City tonight.

The Thunder are around -5.5 to -5 point favorites depending on the sportsbook, and I actually think that they get the job done after that let down last game. They’ll come in focused and knowing that they need to get this home win in order to go back to Los Angeles with the lead. Going back to LA down 3-2 would be a disaster for them.
