NBA Betting — Clippers Lay Points in Revenge Role Against Suns

The Los Angeles Clippers remember their last encounter with the Phoenix Suns very vividly. It was a nightmare for all of them. Now they get a chance for some payback as they meet up with the Suns again in NBA betting action that is slated to get underway at 9:05 PM ET at the US Airways Center in Phoenix.

There is tremendous incentive for both teams. The Clippers lead the Pacific Division with a 41-20 straight-up record, and they are 35-26 against the basketball pointspread. Currently they are in fourth position in the Western Conference, but just a half game behind Portland and four and a half games in back of Oklahoma City.

Phoenix has been going back and forth with the Dallas Mavericks. Right now they are 35-24, which places them in a virtual tie with the Mavs for the seventh spot in the West, but they are three percentage points ahead. The sixth-place Golden State Warriors are just a half-game in front of them. Phoenix also has the best record in the league when it comes to beating the basketball odds, going 38-20-1 in that respect.

In the NBA betting lines that have been placed on this game at Bookmaker, the Clippers are actually laying points on the road:

Los Angeles Clippers -4
Phoenix Suns +4

Over 219 points -110
Under 219 points -110

The Suns have been experiencing some great news, in that one of their backcourt starters, Eric Bledsoe, has been going through five-on-five drills in practice and has not been having any pain in his knee. When Bledsoe was teaming with Goran Dragic, they made it very difficult for opposing defenses because they could both handle the ball. Bledsoe could fill up the stat sheet – he is averaging 18 points and 5.8 assists. As of right now, there is nothing definite about when he will return to the lineup, but basketball bettors can rest assured that it won’t be too long now.

While Bledsoe won’t likely be available, one new member of the Clippers will be. Danny Granger, who was picked up off waivers, will see his first action in for the team on Tuesday night. he is admittedly a shadow of his former self, but he can give this club a few valuable minutes off the bench, and the Clippers figure they need all the depth they can get for the playoff run.

These teams have met once this season, and Dragic scored 26 points as Phoenix got off to a 21-point halftime lead en route to a 107-88 win. Bledsoe and Chris Paul both played in that game. So did Jamal Crawford, who is listed as doubtful for this contest with a calf injury.

Bookmaker customers saw how explosive the Suns could be the last time they took the floor, when they scored 79 points in the first half on the way to a 129-120 victory over the Atlanta Hawks. They shot 55% overall, but it was also the fourth game out of the last five in which they allowed the opposition to shot 52% or better. Over their last three contests, Phoenix has surrendered 54% from the floor.

That kind of thing would seem to be right up the Clippers’ alley, since they have shot at least 50% in seven of their last twelve games. They have a bounce in their step right now, having scored four consecutive victories, both straight up and against the NBA betting lines. And let’s not forget that Phoenix has not only covered at a 65.5% rate but has also beaten this foe eleven of the last 12 times they have visited the Valley of the Sun.
