The Minnesota Twins and Boston Red Sox will face off in game 3 of a 4 game series tonight from Fenway Park. The Red Sox won the first series of the year against the Twins 2 games to 1, putting up a ton of offense in that series and winning by the score of 17-6 and 11-1. The game that they lost was a close one, losing 4-3. The Red Sox then went on to win the first two games of this series, winning the first game 4-1 and last night’s game 9-2. The last 7 out of 10 times these two have played each other, the game has gone over the posted total.

Twins Hope To Get More Innings Out Of Mejia

The Minnesota Twins are 39-36 and are in second place in the American League Central Division. The Twins are a ½ game out of first place behind the Cleveland Indians. The Twins have gone 5-5 in their last 10 games and are 5-5 against teams from the American League East Division.

The Twins will send Adalberto Mejia to the mound to take on the Red Sox. Meija is 2-3 on the year with a 4.93 ERA. He has pitched in 45.2 innings over 10 starts this year. In those 45 innings, he has allowed 45 hits and 25 earned runs, 9 of which were home runs. He has struggled this year going far into games and has only made it past the 5th inning 2 times all year.

Red Sox Need Better Performance From Porcello

The Boston Red Sox are 43-34 and are now in first place in the American League East Division, 1 game ahead of the New York Yankees. The Red Sox have gone 5-5 in their last 10 games overall. The Red Sox have went 10-8 against teams from the American League Central Division.

Rick Porcello will get the start for the Red Sox tonight against the Twins. Porcello is 4-9 with a 5.00 ERA. He has started 16 games and went 99 innings. In those 99 innings, he has allowed 132 hits, 55 earned runs and 16 home runs. Porcello has struck out 93 batters and walked 19.

Red Sox Win At Home

The Red Sox have moved up to first place and now are going head to head with the New York Yankees to maintain the top spot. The leader in the AL East Division is going to flip flop back and forth for the remainder of the year. Both teams will share their time at the top spot but for the most part, the Red Sox should be able to eventually pull off with the lead.

When it comes to playing the Twins, the Red Sox have simply been a better team. The Twins have had their ups and downs and are just too unreliable in pitching this year to be a contender in my opinion. Mejia is one of the worst pitchers in the majors and has been hammered at times. I think the Red Sox will take advantage of him and knock him out of the game by the 5th inning, which will leave the Twins bullpen to clean up the mess. We all know how that will work….not good! I’m taking the Red Sox for 2 Units. Pick: Boston Red Sox -161 for 2 Units
