MLB Betting Preview: Washington Nationals vs. Milwaukee Brewers- June 23rd, 2014

The Milwaukee Brewers are at home on Monday night against the Washington Nationals, and this is a setting up to be an incredible game. The Brewers come in with a 47-30 record, while the Nationals are holding a 39-35 record. Milwaukee has been incredibly impressive this season, and they are in the midst of a four game winning streak right now. These are two teams who are each at the top of their respective divisions, and are looking to notch a big win on Monday night. Milwaukee just finished off a 6-1 road streak where they scored 51 runs and are an impressive 27-15 away from home. This game will get underway on Monday at 8:10pm EST, and it’s a nationally televised game on ESPN2.

The Nationals won back to back games to finish off a four game series against the Atlanta Braves, and are now 1.5 games ahead of their divisional rivals for first place in the NL East. ¬†They are now turning their attention to a tough Brewers team, and Gio Gonzalez is getting the start for the Nats tonight. He has a 3-4 record with a 4.85 ERA on the year, and this will be his second start after coming back from the disabled list. In his first game he couldn’t get a win against Houston, and gave up four runs in five innings. He’s struggled on the road this year, but in his career he’s gone 1-0 with a 2.77 ERA in two starts against the Brewers.

On the other side, the Brewers are going to be rolling with right hander Matt Garza on the mound. Garza has a 4-4 record with a 4.02 ERA, and just recently had a strong outing. Garza gave up two runs in 7 2/3 innings, but got a no-decision against the Diamondbacks. He’s been strong in his last four starts, going at least six innings in each game. Garza has gone 2-0 in his last four starts, but has gone 0-1 with a 6.48 ERA in four starts against this Nationals team.

This game should be a fun one, but I believe that while the Brewers are on a hot streak, the Nationals are being far underrated currently. They have a ton of talent, and I believe that the Nationals are going to keep things going in the right direction tonight. With odds of +108, I’ll be taking the underdog here and expect to see them get a huge road victory against a very strong Brewers team.
