MLB Betting Preview: Los Angeles Dodgers vs. San Francisco Giants- July 25th, 2014

The Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants are getting at here game series underway that is definitely  an important series. The Giants are sitting atop the National League West currently, while the Dodgers are looking at getting at least Yasiel Puig back from being hit by a pitch in the hand, and possibly Hanley Ramirez back. The Dodgers need both of these guys back, as they’ve lost four games out of their last six since the second half of the season started. They’ve also lost seven of 10 against the Giants, which is a streak that they badly need to see end in this series. The Giants are 1.5 games ahead Los Angeles currently, and they had won six of seven before losing 2-1 on Thursday. This game gets underway at 10:15pm EST, and the series will be played in San Francisco.

The Dodgers are looking at one of their studs in Zack Greinke to turn the tides for them, and he has an 11-6 record this year with a 2.90 ERA. It won’t be easy though, as he’s suffered two losses in a row, and allowed four runs and walked five batters in a 4-2 loss to the Cardinals in his last one. He’s been strong against the Giants though in his career fortunately, and has posted a 2-0 record through four starts, but in his last one he struck out eight batters through seven innings and led the team to a  6-2 victory. We’ll need to see another performance like that one in order for the Dodgers to knock off the Giants in tonight’s game.

For the Giants, they get their own stud on the mound in Tim Lincecum. Lincecum has gone 9-6 on the year with a 3.65 ERA, and had a four game winning streak going until he lost in his previous start against the Miami Marlins. He did pitch well in that game also, and went seven innings before getting the loss still. Lincecum has been pretty solid against the Dodgers in his career, with a 9-6 record, and this season he’s been stellar when pitching at home. His home numbers include a 6-2 record while allowing opposing batters a batting average of just .195.

This is such a huge series for these teams, but I think we see the Dodgers get a game here to start it off with Greinke on the mound. He’s going to put his best stuff out there, and I’ll take the Dodgers as favorites of -123 tonight.
