MLB Betting Preview: Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Colorado Rockies- June 5th, 2014

The Arizona Diamondbacks are looking like they may be able to grab their first sweep of the season against the Colorado Rockies tonight. They came into this series having lost three straight games at home to the Cincinnati Reds, and are looking like they are just playing some strong baseball right now. Arizona had a huge game in their massive 16-8 win against Colorado yesterday, and they managed to put together 21 hits and had a total of five players manage at least three hits.  Tonights game should be fun to watch, and the Diamondbacks fans are hoping that this impressive play is the start of something more. This game starts tonight at 8:40pm EST.

Coming off of that incredibly impressive win for the Diamondbacks, they now send Bronson Arroyo to the mound, who has a 4-4 record this year, and a 4.39 ERA. Arroyo has made it through at least seven innings in five of his last six starts, but he hasn’t been able to get a win in any of his last three. He’s just been very up and down, and it’s just a matter of which pitcher is going to show up on Thursday night as to how he’ll perform. Regardless, if the hitting of the Diamondbacks remains this strong, he’ll likely have some support either way.

For Colorado, they need to find a cure to this disastrous play lately, and it may just be pitcher Juan Nicasio. The Rockies have been outscored 44-25 over this current six game losing streak, and they are also dealing with some key injuries that definitely haven’t helped things out. The good news though, is that Nicasio, who is 5-3 this year with a 4.06 ERA, has been strong at home, going 3-0 with a 3.60 ERA. If he can lead the way and help the Rockies get things turned around, then I think we see them steal the final game of this series and snap that losing streak.

It’s tough to bet against a team playing strong when they are up against a team on a losing streak, but I think we see the Rockies end that losing streak tonight thanks to some strong pitching and a good all-around hitting night from the team. It won’t be easy, and it’ll be a close game, but I’m going with the Rockies. Their current betting odds are set at -127 for this game, and I’ll lay the juice and take them to get the win at home.
