In the National League West, the Arizona Diamondbacks and Los Angeles Dodgers are slated to mix it up in the final game of their series on Thursday.  The Dodgers won the first game of the series behind a great outing from Clayton Kershaw. That win moved Los Angeles to 56-29 on the season.

The loss for Arizona dropped them to 3.5 games behind the Dodgers. Arizona is ahead of Colorado in the National League West, with their 52-32 record. The Diamondbacks would be the top wildcard team if the postseason started today. The Los Angeles Dodgers are -155 over the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Dodgers Leading National League

The Los Angeles Dodgers are rolling through the National League. The Dodgers have a ton of talent, and that’s showing on a daily basis. The Dodgers have the best run differential in all of baseball, at +154. Cody Bellinger is putting together a fantastic season, with 24 bombs, and 56 runs batted in.

The pitching for the Dodgers has been fantastic as well. Clayton Kershaw is of course the ace, but the starters have recorded 36 quality starts. The Dodgers have a team earned run average of 3.22 on the season. The Dodgers reached the postseason last year, only to lose to the Chicago Cubs in the NLCS.

Diamondbacks Offense Shining

The Arizona offense has been shining, but their pitching has been the surprise. The Diamondbacks are 5th in the league in runs, and 7th in batting average. Paul Goldschmidt has been outstanding for Arizona, with a .315 average, 19 homeruns and he has drove in 66 runs on the season.

The pitching for Arizona is led by Zack Greinke and Robbie Ray, but the whole staff has stepped it up. The Diamondbacks have a team earned run average of 3.39, which is the second best in the league. The Diamondbacks have 43 quality starts in 2017 as well.

Diamondbacks Edge Dodgers

Robbie Ray is on the mound for the Arizona Diamondbacks. Ray is 8-4 on the season, and  has been a great compliment to Zack Greinke in the Arizona rotation. Ray has a 3.06 earned run average, and his WHIP is 1.06. Ray has struck out 128 batters, in just over 100 innings this season.

On the Los Angeles Dodgers side, Rich Hill is going to pitch. Hill is 5-4 on the season with a 4.00 earned run average. Hill does not go much more than 5 innings per start. Look for Arizona to hit Hill in this game. Bet on the Arizona Diamondbacks on the road over Los Angeles. Take the Diamondbacks +135 over the Dodgers.
