Free Pick for the 2017 PGA Shell Houston Open

PGA Shell Houston Open

A field of 144 golfers will invade the Golf Club of Houston this weekend in the final event before the Masters. Designer See’s Jones has put together an amazing course that should pose quite a challenge for all the professionals. Here we are to give you a Free Pick for the 2017 PGA Shell Houston Open. Let’s take a look at some of the favorites:

Jordan Spieth

This guy is as consistent as they come. In 2015, Spieth lost in a playoff in Houston and loves playing in front of large crowds. This course is designed to mirror that of Augusta, so look for Spieth to put on his big boy pants and play some quality golf this week. The Dallas native is the favorite in this event. You can bet Jordan Spieth at +650 to win the Shell Houston Open.

Rickie Fowler

Fowler won the PGA National and has backed it up with back to back Top 20 finishes. He has contended here twice in the past three years, with a third place finish in 2014. Fowler missed the cut at Torrey Pines, but that was hit last time he has missed a cut. Fowler should be around the top of the leaderboard on Sunday. Fowler is listed at +1400 to win the event and is a pretty solid bet.

Jon Rahm

Possibly the hottest player on the tour right now. He won the Farmers Insurance Open, which was a bit of a breakthrough for him. He is on the verge of winning a second, and nearly took down Dustin Johnson in Mexico and awhile back in Austin. Behind Spoeth, Rahm is second in the listing of odds for the PGA Shell Houston Open. You can grab Jon Rahm at +1000 to win the event.

Phil Mickelson

Lefty has been playing in this event forever. This guy has played every time the tour has come to Houston since 2008. There is not a guy in this event that knows this course as well as Phil. At +2000, it’s hard to look past the veteran golfer.

Adam Scott

Scott won this event back in 2007 but hasn’t played in it since 2010. Then, he finished 14th. He did not play in last weeks event to rest up. He is one of the best iron players, which should allow for low scores this weekend. Scott comes in as the 7th best odds to win the event. You can grab Adam Scott at +2500.

D.A. Points

The 40-year-old is coming off the win in Puerto Rico. He is playing some of his best golf of his career. The former University of Illinois golfer is confident and striking the ball well right now.  Why not back to back weekends? While it is difficult, it is not out of the question. Points is a huge underdog, listed at +15,000 to win the event.

There is a great look at the Shell Houston Open. It should be interesting to see who comes away with the win in this event. Our pick is the favorite. Even being the favorite, Jordan Spieth has pretty nice odds to win this event. Bet on Jordan Spieth +600 to walk away as the winner in Houston this weekend.
