PGA Tour Betting Picks for The Genesis Open

Bet on the Genesis Open this week.

At the Riviera Country Club, the Genesis Open will take place this weekend. The Riviera Country Club is a Par 71, 7,322 yard course that has been around since 1928. The Los Angeles Open was the first big event to be played at this course. The course record for 72 holes is held by Lanny Wadkins with a 265 in 1985.

This summer, the U.S. Amateur will take place here. The winner of this event will receive 500 FedEx Cup points. Let’s take a look at the field, the odds to win and some betting picks for the Genesis Open:

The Field

Jordan Spieth is the favorite to win the event. Spieth will be coming into the Riviera fresh off his blowout win at Pebble Beach last week. Jason Day will return to Riviera for the first time since 2012. Hideki Matsuyama will play in the event, and he currently leads the FedEx Cup standings.

Two those guys, along with returning champion Bubba Watson headlines one of the best fields this event has ever had. Other guys in the event feature Sergio Garcia and Adam Scott. Tiger Woods was scheduled to play in the event, but had to back out with an injury. Here are the odds:

Jordan Spieth +750

Of course Spieth is the favorite. He seems to be playing some of his best golf in awhile right now. The young 23 year old seems to be poised for a monster season. Spieth is third in the FedEx Cup, with just 4 events under his belt. He has finished Top 10 in all of them. Got to like his odds, even as the favorite to win the event.

Dustin Johnson +900

D.J. is still second on this list, but is not in the best form right now. Johnson has started slow, with 4 events played, and just 2 Top 10 finishes. Johnson also has a missed cut, which is obviously a concern for his backers. Johnson at +900 seems to be too steep.

Hideki Matsuyama +900

The current FedEx Cup leader is striking the ball with authority, and cleaning up well on the greens. The 24 year old has played in 6 events, and made the cut in all 6. He has reached the Top 10 in 4 events, and won them twice. His $4.3M earned this early spring leads the board.

Jason Day +1400

It’s been awhile since Day has played here. Day still has some injury concerns with his back. Day is 75th on the current FedEx Cup list right now. He has played in just 3 events, making the cut twice, and reaching the Top 10 once. The 29 year old is making nearly 70% of greens in regulation, and hitting the fairway on 55% of his shots. His most recent event was -12 at Pebble Beach.

Adam Scott +2200

The young guy from Australia will be in the mix on the final day. Scott has only played in two events this spring. Look for him to play well, but not enough golf under his belt to win the four round event.

Betting Pick to Win the Genesis Open

Our pick to win the Genesis Open is the favorite. It’s hard to go wrong with Mr. Spieth right now. +750 is a pretty good line to get the young 23 year old. Make it back to back weeks, and Jordan Spieth wins the Genesis Open.
