Texas Longhorns vs. West Virginia Mountaineers – February 20, 2017

Texas Basketball

The Texas Longhorns will travel east to Morgantown, WV to take on the West Virginia Mountaineers at West Virginia University Coliseum. This game will tip off at 9:00 PM ET on ESPN.

Texas leads the all time series 8-5 SU and has recently found success against the Mountaineers going 8-1 ATS in their last 9 contests against each other. The home team in this matchup has also been a key factor as they have gone 6-1 ATS in the last 7 contests.

Longhorns Rebuilding On The Year

Texas would prefer to start this year over and get a redo as they are only 10-17 SU and 14-12 ATS. They are 1-4 SU & ATS in their last 5 vs. BIG 12 and 1-4 SU & ATS in their last 5 overall. Overall, they are 3-7 SU and 5-5 ATS in their last 10 games.

Texas has a terrible record but if you look at the bigger picture, they aren’t that bad of a team. In their first 27 games, they have had 14 games decided by 5 points or less! There is no chance that they make the tournament and the remaining games will be used as rebuilding and learning experience so they will be able to take a few chances that they normally wouldn’t do.

Mountaineers Off Back To Back Overtime Games

West Virginia Mountaineers are having a decent season going 21-6 SU and 12-10 ATS. The Mountaineers 6 losses have come by a combined 22 points and 3 of those losses come in overtime. They are currently slated to be a #2 seed in the BIG 12 Championship and a #4-5 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

The big talk in Morgantown is how West Virginia is causing headaches to fan and bettors alike. In their last 2 games, they have gone to overtime and now they have two soft games back to back against Texas and TCU before heading to Baylor for a showdown with the #4 team in the nation.

Mountaineers Win But Longhorns Cover Spread

The Longhorns are a dreadful 0-12 away from their home court but are they bad enough to deserve to be 16 point underdogs here? When these two played last month, Texas was only a 11 point underdogs and only lost by 2 points. The Longhorns have been double digit underdogs 6 times this season and went 5-1 ATS in those 6 games.

On the other side, West Virginia has been a double digit favorite 11 times this year and have only covered that line 3 times. There is no doubt, West Virginia wins this game, but I don’t think they win by 16 and the stats side with me.
