2017 NIT Championship Betting Pick: TCU Horned Frogs vs. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

The finals of the NIT Tournament kick off Thursday night in New York from the world renown Madison Square Garden between the TCU Horned Frogs and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. The winner of this game will secure their first ever NIT Championship.

TCU Aiming For First NIT Tournament Title

TCU Horned Frogs advanced to the NIT Finals by beating Central Florida by the score of 68-53.  In that game, the Horned Frogs found themselves down by double digits and had to claw their way back into the game.  Kenrich Williams had a double-double in the game, which happened to be his 18th of the year.

With that win, the Horned Frogs are 23-15 SU and 18-18 ATS.  They have played well on neutral courts going 4-1 this year in the 5 games on neutral sites. The Horned Frogs were 4-8 away from their home court.  TCU is on a 4 game win streak SU, winning 3 out of those 4 ATS.

Many people have short term memory loss but this team is the same team that beat the NCAA Tournament’s #1 seed Kansas Jayhawks in the Big 12 Tournament. This team can be tough and will use their defense to slow down the Yellow Jackets and play at a TCU pace.

Yellow Jackets Looking To Maintain Momentum In NIT

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets advanced the NIT Finals by defeating Cal State Bakersfield by the score of 76-61.  Josh Okogie was the leading scorer in the game, posting 22 points.  Ben Lammers posted another double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

The Yellow Jackets are now 21-15 SU and 20-11 ATS.  They are 2-1 this year on neutral courts and are 3-10 overall away from their home court.  The Yellow Jackets are on a 4 game win streak, both SU and ATS.  They have won 5 straight ATS and 7 out of the last 8 ATS.  GT is 16-5 ATS in their last 21 games overall. In 7 of their last 10 games, they have played under the posted total.

The Yellow Jackets also beat a #1 seed in the NCAA Tournament by defeating the North Carolina Tar Heels by 12 points.  But with that being said, they also lost their following game to Duke by 54 points. They have been an up and down team throughout much of the year.

Defense Reigns Supreme In New York At The NIT!

The last 13 out of 18 non-conference games that the Yellow Jackets have played in have gone under the posted total.  The past 22 out of 32 non-conference games that the Horned Frogs have played in have gone under the posted total.  Both of these teams are defense oriented and in the NIT Championship, it should be no different.
