ACC Semifinal: Duke Blue Devils vs. North Carolina Tar Heels – March 10, 2017

Justin Jackson of North Carolina

For the third time this year, we are gifted with the best rivalry in NCAA College Basketball, this time for a spot in the finals of the ACC Tournament. It’s Duke vs. North Carolina, with the winner advancing to the ACC Tournament Finals.

This series is almost dead even with the Blue Devils holding a slight edge winning 1 more game in the history of the rivalry 19-18. These two have not met in the ACC tournament since 2011, when the two met in the finals, where Duke captured the ACC Title.

These two already met 2 times earlier in the season with both home teams winning on their home court. Duke won the first matchup by the score of 86-78, while North Carolina took the later matchup by the score of 90-83.

Duke Continue Momentum In ACC Tournament

The Duke Blue Devils needed to come from behind against the Louisville Cardinals to advance to the semifinals in the ACC Tournament. The Blue Devils were down by 12 but came back and won the game 81-77.

Duke is now 25-8 SU and 13-18-1 ATS. Duke has won 7 out of the last 10 games SU but only won 4 out of the past 10 ATS. They went into the ACC Tournament losers of 3 of 4 SU but have turned it around winning the first two games in the ACC Tournament.

Tar Heel Looking For ACC Tournament Championship

North Carolina advanced to the semifinals with a nice and easy win over the Miami Hurricanes by the score of 78-53. The Tar Heels had 4 players score in double digits and it was a very well rounded offensive outing by North Carolina.

The Tar Heels have the 10th ranked offense in the NCAA averaging 85.2 points per game. With the win over Miami, the Tar Heels are now 27-6 SU and 17-13-2 ATS. The Tar Heels are winners of the past 8 out of 10 games SU and 5 out of 10 ATS.

Duke vs. North Carolina ACC Semifinal Betting Pick

The Tar Heels will need better play from ACC Player of the Year Justin Jackson. Jackson is averaging just over 18 points per game over the season but over the past 3 games, he is only scoring an average of 11 points per game. I look for him to have a remarkable game here on Friday and help the Tar Heels advance to the ACC Tournament Finals. Both teams will score big and this game should easily surpass 156.5 points.
