Betting The Round Totals for UFC 214

We are back this week with another UFC event and we are giving you some handicapping free plays.   The event comes to us from Anaheim, California and will be shown on UFC Fight Pass for the early prelims, FXX for the prelims and the main card on Pay Per View at 10:00 PM ET.  In this article, we will focus on playing the round totals for UFC 214.

Donald Cerrone vs. Robbie Lawler

This fight has potential for Fight of the Night! Donald Cerrone is coming into this fight off a 1st round KO loss at the hands of Jorge Masvidal at UFC on FOX 23.  That fight happened on January 28, 2017 so in terms of Donald Cerrone, that means he is well rested and eager to get back in the cage.

Robbie Lawler has not fought since one year ago when he lost the UFC Welterweight Title to Tyron Woodley.  Lawler sort of went into hibernation and sort of gave his body some rest after having a long career with some hellacious battles inside the cage.  It will be very interesting to see how Lawler looks with this being his first fight camp since he has departed ways with his former gym, American Top Team.

I think both Cerrone and Lawler are going to come out swinging for the fences and looking to end this fight early. Lawler is going to have some ring rust since he has been away for a year and he knows his best path to victory is by KO’ing Cerrone early in the fight.  The longer Cerrone is in the fight, the more dangerous he will be.  On the other hand, Cerrone will be looking to land a big head kick to Lawler’s skull that will end the fight and get Cerrone back on the way to a title fight. Either way, whoever wins, I can’t see this fight going the distance.

Pick: Cerrone vs. Lawler Under 2.5 Rounds -112

Jimi Manuwa vs. Volkan Oezdemir

Jimi Manuwa will be taking on Volkan Oezdemir in the Light Heavyweight Division.  Manuwa is 17-2 and is the #3 Light Heavyweight in the UFC.  Manuwa is coming in off back to back KO wins over Corey Anderson and Ovince St. Preux.  Manuwa has showed off his spectacular striking against high level guys and his only two losses come against former champion Anthony “Rumble” Johnson and Alexander Gustafsson.  Manuwa has been vocal about calling for a fight for the title and a win here could put him one step closer to a title shot.

Volkan Oezdemir made his UFC debut at UFC Fight Night 104 on February 4, 2017.  He came into that fight as a +285 underdog against Ovince St. Preux and took home a split decision win over the UFC vet.  He followed that up against Misha Cirkunov as a +325 underdog and KO’d him in the first round.  Oezdemir has looked really good in both UFC fights and is now ranked #5 in the UFC Light Heavyweight Division.  A win here will force him into the top 3 and knocking on the door of a UFC title fight.

Both of these guys like to stand and bang and won’t back up in the fight.  Someone is going to get KO’d in this fight in the first round.  This is a battle of two big boys and I predict it doesn’t get past the 1st round.

Pick: Jimi Manuwa vs. Volkan Oezdemir Under 1.5 Rounds
